Ahoy there, thought I'd put a journal up to explain (briefly, dinner is cooking in the background) the sudden vanishing act. As you have probably guessed, the want to draw anything has completed gone these days; I wish I knew why or where it went but it's gone and I'm much happier not hunched over a laptop as I illustrate silly scenes between long-haired men and women with grey streaks... Maybe it's my age, maybe it's just run its 20 year course; but the pencils have been hung up. It's been a good run though! Learnt some tricks, improved anatomy (no more boxy shoulders that look dislocated!) and importantly, made some friends. If I hadn't joined this site way back in 2003, [I know, this profile says I joined 11 years ago, but I was here previously on another account or two...] I probably would have given up drawing years and years ago. (really trying not to hear the Mary Poppins 'Step In Time' song to that title now.. :giggle: ) Still struggling with the art blues but all is not lost creatively. For some unbeknownst reason, I decided in the recent months to try and learn to crochet - it was challenging, the books I was using to learn were just confusing me. So after a lesson from a local lady (a good friend of my mother), the basics have been picked up and I'm making chains to fill up a small cupboard. :XD: One day I'll learn how to make other stitches... Also decided around November that I would make an embroidery for my mum for her Christmas. She taught me how to sew when I was little so it was a case of delving into the depths of my childhood to remember what to do. Didn't take long to recall the methods and also didn't take long for my fingers to become pin cushions. Wow, so many finger stabs in one sitting. ^^; Not to mention a little run-in with a kitchen knife for additional challenges by sewing
